Licata: A Path Towards Sustainability

 

We are located in Licata, a rural municipality in the province of Agrigento, which is experiencing numerous inconveniences, including waste management and the lack of initiatives to enhance the territory and raise public awareness.An efficient waste management system can reduce, in the long run, the environmental impact and promote the protection of the ecosystem in which we live. It has already been about 3 years that the separate waste collection system has become an integral part of the city of Licata, however its proper functioning seems to be compromised by the lack of education on the part of the citizens themselves.There is a part of young people, the most consistent, who are tired of having to live with this situation of poor cleanliness. Improving the waste collection service is a key priority to ensure a cleaner, more sustainable and liveable environment for all.Improving the waste collection service requires not only the action of institutions, but also the active collaboration of citizens and young people who play a central role: the latter represent the engine of change and are often more sensitive to the issues of sustainability and protection of the planet.Their active participation is crucial to build a more responsible society and ensure the sustainability of this rural municipality for future generations.
